On Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 7 pm Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart will be opening the exhibitions of Kostis Velonis, Georges Senga Assani and Jelena Vesić.
With a reading by Fiston Mwanza Mujila and a book presentation by Jelena Vesić on the opening evening.

"Precision German Craftsmanship"
The title was borrowed from a poem by the American poet Matthew Rohrer, in which he describes his ideas of German craftsmanship, especially with regards to the proverbial German thoroughness and precision. Kostis Velonis plays with this idea and intentionally creates crafts which are not based on such values. The smoothness and polish of typical design products are substituted by scratching on the raw surfaces and the aspect of deterioration and collapse of the cultural object. Most of the surfaces of these objects remain dirty, smudgy and stained, offering their own narratives.

The first exhibition that will inaugurate the temporary exhibition spaces of EMST is a coproduction of EMST and the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA). The exhibition entitled Urgent Conversations: Athens - Antwerp will be inaugurated on October 31, 2016 and last until January 29, 2017.
